Light & Livable
A Whole-Home Reimagining Rooted in Ease and Intent
An Austin home transforms into a light-filled haven of calm, comfort, and clarity.
The DOMICILIO Approach
What began as a simple layout dilemma turned into a whole-home transformation rooted in clarity, comfort, and connection. The client’s long, narrow living space once felt awkward and limiting—symptomatic of broader design issues throughout the home. Our challenge was not only to rework the flow, but to reimagine the home for the needs of a modern family.
The Strategy
We started by solving the heart of the home: the living room. A new layout created two distinct yet connected seating zones, immediately unlocking the potential for intimate family time and larger entertaining alike.
With trust established, the project expanded. We redefined the architectural bones, replacing tired 2000s finishes with warm limestone tile, whitewashed LVP floors, and a stunning soapstone fireplace surround. In the bathroom, we split one awkward space into two highly functional retreats—one for guests and one for family—each with its own distinct style and clear purpose.
The Result
This once-disjointed house now flows beautifully, both visually and emotionally. Every room serves a purpose, every finish enhances light and movement, and the entire space feels cohesive, calm, and ready for the rhythms of daily life.
Design and project management for this Austin, TX residence were completed while the principal designer was with Flux Collaborative.
